Blaine Daniel SAMPSON
Age 87, passed away on February 9, 2006. Born in
Delta, Utah on September 1, 1918, the fifth child of
Alonzo and Mary Alice Allred Sampson. He attended the
University of Utah until Pearl Harbor interrupted his
studies. He joined the U.S. Army as soon as he took
his last final in December, 1941. He served at the
Quartermaster Depot in Seattle, and took part of the
occupation forces in Japan after WWII, eventually
attaining the rank of Lt. Col. While at the
Quartermaster Depot he met Eleanor Sours and they were
married on July 7, 1944. Their marriage was later
solemnized in the Manti Temple. They spent 60 loving
years together and were blessed with four sons and a
daughter. He was a faithful member of the Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many
leadership capacities including Elder's Quorum
President, High Councillor, Bishop and member of the
North Seattle Stake Presidency. Many benefited from
his wise council and his service. He and Eleanor
served a mission in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and for
18 years were temple workers in the Seattle Temple. He
was preceded in death by his beloved Eleanor on July
11, 2004. Survivors include his children and spouses:
Rick and Marie, Provo, Utah, Susan and Merrill Hill,
Stevensville, Montana, Don and Alice, Olympia, Brent
and Kathy, Mill Creek, and Steve and Lisa, Vancouver,
20 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, sister Merna
and Clifford Woodall, brothers Clinton and Lola
Sampson, and Cecil Sampson, brother-in-law Robert
Sours and numerous nieces and nephews. God, family,
and country were the things that mattered most to our
Dad. He will be sorely missed. If you wish to do
something as a memorial to him, gather your family and
enjoy being together. Services will be on Friday,
February 17, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. at the Shoreline Ward
Building, 102 - N. 132nd, Seattle, WA.
