She may be the one whose mc. dues are recorded in Newton KSA for Margaret Steel 7 Dec. 1755 [72] the record shows a fee of one shilling, which would relate to a mc. fee for an infant or small child. There was no bu. record in Newton p. relating to above mc. record. No other bps. of a Margaret Steel were found in Newton records that might qualify her as the deceased.

This book is a work of over 30 years research of records of coalmining parishes of Scotland in the counties of Midlothian, Fife, West Lothian, East Lothian, Lanark, and Stirling; the counties of Northumberland and Durham in England, and a few areas of Australia.
