Some information regarding a William Snow.. not sure if this is correct or not... I am not sure how true this is. The dates do not match. This author talks about the time frame of 1800s when we are looking at the 1600s. (The date 1838 mentioned below might be a typo on the Author's part. He might mean 1638 instead of 1838) “William Snow was brought over to Plymouth Colony in the spring of 1838 as an indentured servant by Richard Derby to fulfill part of an agreement he had with Edward Doty who had come on the Mayflower. There are other accounts of William's arrival, the most widely accepted is that he came on the Susan and Ellen in 1635. There was indeed a young man named William Snow age 18 on the passenger list. He seemed to be part of a group of young men who were traveling separately from the families. That group of people appear to have been bound for the Massachusetts Bay Colony, and the most noted passenger was the Reverend Peter Bulkeley. Since the earliest record of Richard Derby in Plymouth is 1637, and research by the Derby family confirms his trips to and from England, it is unlikely that our William was the individual on the Susan and Ellen. (I have an idea about that individual which will be covered in the notes on the Rev. Peter Bulkeley. [ers]) The land deal between Derby and Doty eventually fell through and Derby returned to England although his brother and their cousin stayed. William's original indenture was for five years, and when he got to Plymouth and was transferred to Edward Doty, it was extended for two more years. It is very likely that William was as young as fourteen and had no family to take responsibility for him so the obligation was extended until he was twenty-one. William served his indenture and seemed to have prospered with the growing colony. He was one of the first proprietors of West Bridgewater. Sometime around 1854, he married Rebecca Brown(e), daughter of Mayflower passenger Peter Brown(e). This makes William's descendants Mayflower descendants. Peter Brown(e) had no sons, therefore his legacy is through his daughters. In his final years William was cared for by his son William and died at Bridgewater in 1708”
