Arrived in New York from Amsterdam, Netherlands 30 Oct 1882 on ship Surrey.
Mrs. G. Roetman, nee Marrigje Kanis, died Monday at the Pioneer Home, after suffering with a heart ailment since November.
She had attended church on Sunday as usual and her sudden death was a shock to friends at the Home and to her children.
She was born 83 1/2 years ago in the Netherlands, where her marriage to Mr. Roetman took place. The couple settled at Hospers in 1883.
Two of their five children survive, namely, Rev. R. Roetman of Newkirk, and Mrs. Gertie De Haan, Orange City. Her husband passed on in 1907.
Funeral services in charge of Rev. Colenbrander were held today (Thursday) at the Pioneer home and First Ref. church.
