Notes for IRIN # 638, Jane Anne Austen
May be the "Aunt Jane" referred to in a letter dated 1930 from Elizabeth Hyland to Frank Pilcher. Says Aunt Jane raised Rose, married to George Hepworth, from Clifton, IL? Rose referred to as having a son who is married with two children, and a daughter married to a Topliff. Rose and George also have other children living on farms in Iowa.
Elizabeth P T Pennock mentions Aunt Jane in a letter to son Frank after his first wedding (abt 1888), wondering if he sent her a wedding announcement. Also mentions in another letter from Plainfield going to Joliet from Plainfield, then on to Aunt Jane's. Mentions "Aunt Jemima going with her, in same letter.
3 Aug 1889 letter from Mother Elizabeth to son Frank, again mentions Aunt Jane joining them in Joliet to go on to Clifton before returning to Greene from Plainfield. Also says Aunt Jemima will be with them.
A letter from Lizzie Clark Hyland in Plainfield says "Ma is at Aunt Jane's." Ma would presumably be Lizzie's mother, and Aunt Jane would be her husband Lew's mother's (Jemima's) sister.
