Garnisons Church
Born 22.12.1799 in Copenhagen, Denmark, baptized there 16.02.1800 at Frederiks German Church, confirmed there 21.04.1816 at Garnisons Church, and died 04.09.1888 in Frederiksberg, Denmark. He was a student at the Metropolitan School in 1818, and was a legal candidate in 1826. He became a clerk in 1828 in the Danish West Indies (present day US Virgin Islands), and was employed in Tranquebar, Danish India in 1829. He moved to Serampore, Danish India in 1834, and became a member of the Serampore
council. Due to controversies with the other officials, he was suspended in 1836 and returned home to Denmark. In 1838, he was once again sent to Tranquebar; as the senior judge. He remained in this position until the colony was ceded to Great Britain. In 1846, he resided in Copenhagen and served as a government council member. From 1853 to 1858, he was a parliamentarian in the Helsingør district for the National Liberals. He married Charlotte Mathilde von Stricker 29.10.1839 in Tranquebar, Danish India; she was born there 10.11.1822, baptized there 10.06.1823 at Zions Church, confirmed there 09.10.1837 at Zions Church, and died 01.04.1909 in Frederiksberg, Denmark. Charlotte was the daughter of Johan Ditlev von Stricker (baptized 04.07.1784
in Tranquebar, Danish India, and died there 08.12.1832) and Johanne Frederikke von Stricker (born 28.10.1791 in Copenhagen, Denmark). Johanne
was a cousin of Johan’s father Otto von Stricker.
