Buried in Mt. Tabor Cemetery near Bowman, S C Information from the Family Bible given by Connon and Carter DeWitt to Floyd Infinger, all decedents of Thomas Pulaski. Also from LDS film #1621579 . inscription on grave stone reads: Sacred to the Memory of Thomas Pulaski Nov 10, 1816 September 19, 1882 75 years, 10 months 0 days "Art Thou a Father I Depend Upon, The Care of Such a Friend, When All My Days on Earth Are Past, Me et Me All in Heaven."
I spoke with Gene Stanley in Hampton, S C, on May 25, 1999, and he is descended from the Pulaski family that is rather large in that area. He says that family lore states that Count Pulaski (who made general in the American Revolution War) had a secret family that he kept in Branchville, S C. He kept them secret so that the British wouldn't murder them. He maintains that the Pulaski's of S. C. came from this family. Also, says that the story passed down through the family says that Gen. Pulaski was wounded in the leg by the British. He died of gan grene. His men, who adored him, buried him at sea to honor him and keep the British from finding his body. The monument in Savannah was erected 50 years after wards. The body in the tomb was not the body of Gen Pulaski. If this is a true account of history, then we are descended from the Polish Count Pulaski. I have since related this story to Johnny Summers, who lives next door to Mt. Tabor Baptist Church. He told me that he had heard the same story there in the Reevesville-Bowman area. Also talked with some people in the St. George Library and they had heard the same story from people who live in small town near there near the Westburys.
