Peter Simons, the first child God gave Benjamin Simons and Mary Esther DuPre, was born on Sunday, the 9th of July, 1693, at five o'clock in the morning in Charleston, South Carolina. He was baptize d in the French Chruch by Mr. Trevilar, Minister. Mr. Peter Gizzar was his Godfather and Miss Martha DuPre (wife of Mr. Francis Blanchar) was his Godmother. Peter Simons married Magdalen Cordes the daughter of Dr. Anthonie Cordes and Esther Madaleine Balluet. This was the Peter Simons who was captain of the militia and also a Justice of the Peace in St. Thomas' and St . Denis' Parish. In 1724, "he was killed in attacking (arresting) a family of Dutartre, who had put to defiance all laws, both human and divine, and lived in common as brutes."
