He was afarmer and is shown to have paid the Effective Supply Tax in Douglas Township in 1783.The Lubolds attended St. John’s Lutheran Church in Berrysburg, PA and theylived on Little Wiconisco Creek, near Gratz in Dauphin Co., PA. They lived in Douglas Twpduring the Revolution. In 1785 he sold the land and moved to Lykens Valley with his wife’sparents, John Burkhardt Bechtel and Gertrude Reifschneider Bechtel. They purchased a tract ofland one mile from the west end of Short Mountain. A small portion was cleared, but it wasmostly a forest of pine and mixed trees. The bottomlands were covered by large white oaks.John was over 50 years of age during the Revolution and remained on the farm. Due to hisadvanced age when he married, the children were too young to serve the Cause of Freedom.
