He was a commander of horse in Marion's Brigade and Lt. Col. in an independant corps of cavalry by the authority of Gen. Green. He had a grandson, Hezekiah Maham Haig, a second one Unknown (possibly a child of his daughter, Ann) assumed so by the wording of his will. However, he mentions two friends, Dr. Haig and John Waties who might have been his sons-in-law, i.e. Ann married John Waties and his other daughter, Mary, married Dr. Haig giving birth to H. M. Haig. He had a nephew, George King.
