Obituary for Claude Kittrell
Claude Kittrell. Age 81, died September 4, 2006 at his home in Winnemucca with his family at his side.
He was born April 18, 1925 to Garrett and Della (Brixey) Kittrell at his home in Marshfield, Mo.
When Claude turned 18, he enlisted in the Army. He was with the 756th Field Artillery in the Philippines.
Claude worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad. He was a fireman/engineer in Alturas, Dunsmuir, CA. and Klamath Falls, OR. When he started with the SP in Alturas, CA, he worked steam locomotives. He retired March 8, 1982.
Claude didn’t know a stranger. He enjoyed talking to everyone that would cross his path. He also enjoyed learning, and took mail order correspondence courses well after his retirement. Claude enjoyed fishing and tying flies until arthritis made it impossible to enjoy either activity.
Claude was preceded in death by his parents; Garrett and Della, wife; Judy, daughter; LaWanda, brothers; Don, Paul, Jack, Harry, Bruce and sister; Helen.
He is survived by son; Robert (Christy), daughter; Molly (Leonard) Rose, brother; Robert all of Winnemucca, brother; Ray (Marilee) Salisaw of Oklahoma Phillip (Rose) of Marshfield, MO., Jerry (Rita) of Charlotte, TN., Larry of Springfield, MO., numerous nieces and nephews and special granddaughter Patricia (Duane) Rose of Alamogordo, MN.
Private graveside services are being held.
Albertson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

He was born April 18, 1925 to Garrett Kittrell and Della Brixey Kittrell at Marshfield.
During W.W. II, he served his country in New Guinea. After being discharged from the Army, Claude worked as a forest ranger in California before starting his career with the Southern Pacific Railroad in California and Oregon.
He was preceded in death by his wife Judy (Kennard) Kittrell; his parents; his only sister, Helen Schubin; and five brothers, Donald, Paul, Jack, Harry and Bruce Kittrell.
He is survived by his son Robert Butch Kittrell; his daughter, Molly Rose and husband Leonard; a step-daughter, Lawanda Curtis; and five brothers, Bob Kittrell of Winnemucca, Nev., Ray Kittrell and wife MaryLee of Salisaw, Okla., Phil Kittrell and wife Rose of Marshfield, Jerry Kittrell and wife Rita of Charlotte, Tenn., and Larry Kittrell of Springfield; plus a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Graveside services were held Wednesday, Sept. 6 in Winnemucca, Nev.
