Edward ·Ed" Elbert Davis, 86, of Orangeburg, died Thursday, July 5, 2007 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 7, at Northside Baptist Church in Orangeburg, with the Rev. Burt Williams, the Rev. Patrick Latta, and the Rev. Jim Parnell officiating. Burial will be in the Crestlawn Memorial Gardens in Orangeburg.
The casket will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.
Active pallbearers will be James Davis Jr., Brad Davis, Vernon Davis, Stephen Shaw, Mac Hughes Jr. and Dennis Porter.
Mr. Davis was born February 10, 1921 in Orangeburg County, a son of the late Edward Asbury Davis and the late Josephine Kittrell Davis. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corp (CCC Camp). He served in the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a charter member of Northside Baptist Church; a member of the Men's Bible class; a former Sunday School teacher and a deacon; a member of the Garden City Antique Car Club; the Edisto Shrine Club; a past member of the Hobo Unit; a member of the Omar Temple; the Progress Masonic Lodge and the V.F.W. He was a member of Buck Head Hunting Club. He was retired owner and operator of Ed Davis Body Shop. He was preceded in death by his first wife, the late Vernell Wannamaker Davis and his late stepmother, Bessie Davis Fogle.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Flo Bozard Davis of Orangeburg; four daughters, Jeanette Davis Cook and her husband, Richard of Laurens, Jean Davis Williams and her husband, Larry of Orangeburg, Jacqueline Davis Price and her husband, Richard of Orangeburg, and Brenda Bozard Berry and her husband, Timmy of Branchville; one son, Bert Bozard and his wife, Leah of Orangeburg; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; five sisters, Alva Young of Grand Prairie, Texas, Mrs. Jim (Thelma) Williams of Fort Ogle Thorpe, Ga., Virginia Shaw, Susie Hughes and Nelda Green of Orangeburg; one brother, James H. Davis Sr. of Orangeburg; a number of nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the residence of Larry and Jean Williams, 739 Barrington Drive, Orangeburg and at Thompson Funeral Home Inc.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
