I will try to summarize myfamily history in Orangeburg and ask a few questions.George Thomson is found on the 1850 census working as a wheelwright forDaniel Kittrell and his wife Margaret Scott Jennings. George married theiroldest daughter, Martha Kittrell. George enlisted in the Confederate Armyon Nov 29, 1861 in Orangeburg. He stated his place of residence was theKeitts farm. I have been unable to locate him and his family in the 1860census. There are a few Keittes but none with any Thomsons. There is aGeorge and Martha Thomson in Orangeburg in 1860 but the children do notmatch. My George's children were Isabel b.1851, Orangeburg, SCWilson b. 1853, Orangeburg, SCNinian b. 1857, Orangeburg, SCM, daughter, b 1861, Orangeburg, SCWalter, b. 1863, Orangeburg, SCMary, b. 1866, Searcy, Cross, ARReuben, b. 1870, Searcy, Cross, AR - my great grandfatherThey moved to Bowie County, TX. Also in Bowie County from SC were Bobo,Keitt, and Kittrell. The family story about George is that he was a stowaway on a ship fromScotland at the age of 14. I have found his family in Scotland. He wasfrom Old Machar, Aberdeen, Scotland and had sisters named Agnes, Isabel,Mary and brothers Ninian and John. There was also a Ninion Thompson inAbbeville SC in 1850. He was born in Scotland abt 1790. I am wondering ifhe is related to my George.I am interested in the Kittrells and Thomsons in SC. Also where was Georgein 1860 and is there anyone who knows how he got to SC. I look forward to further correspondence with you. I will visit yourwebsite and discussion group.SincerelySara Neeley
