Abraham was a Licensed Navy Agent at Chatham, Kent from 1815 to 1820. He was licensed to go on board Navy vessels and sell goods to the sailors. He arrived in Van Diemen's Land on board the "Cumberland" on 24 January 1825 and worked for his relative, Henry Davis. He and George Russell had power of attorney of Davis's property when Davis fled to Sydney to avoid creditors in 1828. He also took over the licence for the "Commercial Inn" at Launceston from Davis. Abraham's house in Launceston burned down and he suspected a convict, John Fawkner of arson. Fawkner was the father of John Pascoe Fawkner who was one of the founders of Melbourne. He was also an associate of Judah and Joseph Solomon whom Abraham is said to have informed against in Sheerness, Kent, leading to their transportation. Abraham challenged Fawkner to a duel, however, it would appear that the duel was never fought (source: John Levi). From "Australian Genesis - Jewish Convicts & Settlers 1788-1860" by John S Levi & G F J Bergman: ".....Aaron Abrahams (Abraham Aaron), the brother-in-law of Judah (Solomon) and the son of the prosecutor of the Solomon brothers, married Michaels' niece, and by the way of a dowry was told that he could collect the the debts owed to Michael Michael's in Hobart Town..... Aaron Abraham (sic) arrived in Van Diemen's Land from Sheerness in 1825 and began proceeding s to recover the money owed to his uncle-in-law, Michael Michaels. To his dismay, he found the debtor had died and the estate was now in the hands of the colony's autocratic chaplain and senior magistrate, Rev. Robert Knopwood, who had inherited it in good faith from Michaels ' agent. Knopwood emphatically believed that the money belonged to him, and Abraham was wis e enough not to argue. He turned to (Henry) Davis to help raising enough money to return t o England....Aaron Abraham left Van Diemen's Land for home and family in 1829." Received Cart Licence, Launceston District 1826-1830 Arrived in Swan River Colony (Perth) on 9 October 1829 on board the "Ephemina". Abraham returned to London, England in 1829 on board the "Margaret".
