They lived at a farm at the locality called "Gemeenhof" at the west side from Roeselare and they owned grounds at the nearby localities of "De Most" and "Schiervelde".
Later on, at the and of WW I, during the liberation offensive, these grounds were the theatre of very stounch fighting when the Belgian ninth Division, backed by the French 152th infantry Regiment, successfully attacked the German Flandern I bunker line at the October 1918.
