Neal William Mouw was bom to William and Whilmina Mouw at Sioux Center, Iowa on December 26, 1908. He attended Christian elementary school/graduated from high school, and grew to manhood at Sioux Center. He later attended auctioneer's school and lived at Sioux Center for a time.
On August 5, 1950 Neal Mouw was united in marriage to Marjorie L. Baker at Amarillo, Texas. They made their home in Amarillo until 1957, when they moved to Sisseton. Neal had been an active auctioneer for over 45 years. He also operated a cattle feedlot for several years and, in recent years, had developed the Hillside Mobile Manor at Sisseton.
He was a member for several years of the Sisseton Barbershop Chorus and belonged to the Methodist Church in Amarillo, Texas. He was an active member of the Sisseton Senior Citizens and was a faithful visitor of the Tekakwitha Nursing Home residents.
Mr. Mouw died in a Fargo, North Dakota hospital on Thursday evening June 6, at the age of 75.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie of Sisseton; 1 son, James W . Mouw of Buford, Georgia; 2 brothers, Ben Mouw of St. Ansgar, Iowa and Marvin Mouw of Sioux Center, Iowa; 4 sisters, Mrs. Elmer (Alice) Straatsma of Holland, Mich., Mrs. John (Johanna) Van Binsbergen of Orange City, Iowa, Mrs. Earl (Wilma) Van Gorp of Montevideo, Minnesota and Mrs. Jake (Harriet) De Boer of Littleton, Colorado; 2 grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his: parents and a brother, Marvin.
Funeral services were held at the Assembly of God Church in Sisseton at 9:30 a.m., Saturday morning, June 9. The Rev. Dwight Fearing was in charge. Mrs. Irving Slaamot was the organist and accompanied Mrs. Cleon Brooks in special music. Interment followed at 4 p.m. in Memory Gardens Cemetery at Sioux Center, Iowa with Rev. Henry Eggink officiating. Serving as casket bearers were Norman De Boer, John Mouw, Richard Oftedahl, Warren Van Binsbergen, Bryan Van Gorp and Dr. Paul Van Gorp. The Bader Funeral Home of Sisseton was in charge of arrangements. The Memorial Funeral Home assisted locally.
