VA..  He married BARBARA DEBONETTE 1705 in England, daughter of DANIEL DEBONNETTE/Bonnet and JEANNE COLIVER.  She was born Abt. 1686 in France, and died Aft. 1738 in Manakin Town, King William Parish, Henrico Co. VA..
Notes for PIERRE DUTOIT:
"Pierre Dutois and his wife Barbara De Bonnette of the Parish of Tarrigny (?) with their two small children fled from France into Holland.  They were disguised as Burgoise market man and wife, with the children safely disposed among the vegetables in the panniers on each side of a donkey which they led between them.  A sword thrust into one of the panniers by a trooper came nearly to disclosing their identity.  But the little hero who suffered a flesh wound in the leg, made no moan till the danger was past.  Their daughter Elizabeth Dutois married Captain Thomas Porter.
From "Porter Family Henrico Co., VA Records" compiled by Mrs. Margaret Scruggs Carruth.

The parents of Barbara deBonnette were in Bristol England until the winter of 1700, so it is possible that Pierre Dutoit married Barbara Bonnet in England; however, she is not listed as a French refugee (Huguenot) on the ship "Mary Ann" on which he arrived at the mouth of the James River on July 23, 1700.  He came to Manakintown, VA in 1700 and was one of the founders of Manakintown.
The book "The French Lands", by Priscilla Harris Cabell, p. 117 states: "Registered as 'Pre.Dutoit', Peter, his wife and two daughters were living in Manakintown in 1714.  As he and his wife were Historic Founders, he had, of course, been in King William Parish since 1700. Peter Dutoy(sic) had two patents.  The earlier one for 400 acres in 1714 was on 'a Great Branch' of Manakin Town Creek. ; This branch was named for Peter and became known as 'Dutoy's Branch.'  Today it is called 'Dutoy's Creek.' ; This patent did not cover French land.  It was surveyed by Richard Ligon on 10 February 1706 for Peter Ditnay eight years before he patented it.  His second patent, which was part of the first 5,000 acres donated to the French refugees, was less than half a mile down from the mouth of Upper Makin Creek.  This patent (808) was 'the plantation whereon I now live.'
He died in 1726.  An abstract of his will (Henrico Co., Virginia, 02 May 1726, p. 659) is cited: Peter Dutoit of Moudon in Suisse, now of King William Parish in the county of Henrico to wife Barbara, the plantation whereon I now live for her life, containing 61 acres, between John Jouany and Stephen Chastain with 400 acres on the Great Branch of Monockin upper creek and 400 acres on the same branch joining the above.  To daughters Elizabeth Dutoit, eldest daughter, the home plantation after my wife's death; to youngest daughter Mary Ann Dutoit, 300 acres situated as above; to son Isaac Dutoit, a plantation of 400 acres on Manockin Upper Creek; to nephew Anthony Bennin, 100 acres in the same tract (as my daughter Mayan's) after my wife's death; to sister-in-law Jeanne Sobrish a cow and a calf.

The magazine "The Huguenot", Vol 25, pg. 155-6 state that Pierre Dutoit was a vestryman in the King William Parish in 1711, 1714, 1720, and 1726.

15 April 1765;
probated 27 April, 1767.

After the death of his wife, his plantation was to become the property of their son, John Porter.  His wife died in 1772.
Thomas Porter had a 384 acre patent which he obtained on 28 September 1732.  It was for land lying on both sides of Upper Manakin Creek and adjoining the French line, but not within the French territory.  He married Elizabeth, eldest daughter of Pierre Dutoit and his wife Barbara Bonnet, Huguenot founders of Manakintown.  Part of Thomas Porter's land was sold by Thomas and his wife Elizabeth on 16 August 1737 to John Peter Bilbow, probably son of James Bilbaud.  This purchase of 93 acres by Bilbow was bequesthed in his will by 1750 to Isaac Dutoit, the brother of Porter's wife.  It seems that Isaac Dutoit never married.  He wrote his will on 26 November 1750 leaving the same 93 acres of
Porter's patent to his sister Maryann (Dutoit) Goss. ; She and her husband James Goss sold this land back to the patentee Thomas Porter on 27 November 1752.

The magazine, "The Huguenot", Vol. 25, 156, states that Thomas Porter was a Vestryman of the Parish of King William in 1750.

ii. MARIANNE DUTOIT, b. Abt. 1706, France; d. Virginia; m. (1) CHRISTOFFE (CHRISTOPHER) DUBREUILE, Abt. 1727, France; b. 1680, Lagny France; d. 1727, Manakin, Virginia; m. (2) John (JEAN LOUCADOU) LOOKADO, Apr 1732; m. (3) James GOSS, Abt. 1736, Goochland Co., Virginia; b. Abt. 1715, Manakin, Goochland Co., Virginia; d. 09 Oct 1788, England.
Notes for MARIANNE DUTOIT:
It is reported in the book, "The French Lands", by Priscilla Harris Cabell, page 73:
Maryann (Dutoit) Goss, sister of Elizabeth Porter, married first John Loucado, also Lookadoe, as proven by deeds.  John and his brother Pierre were on the list "Enfans Orphelins", or orphans, in 1714 in Manakintowne.  Doubtless they were the sons of John Loucadou who died before the "census" in 1714 in which his children were listed as orphans, and whose death coincides with the fact that he claimed two tracts of French land as can be seen elsewhere. ; He did not live long enough to receive patents for the land.

The younger John married Maryann Dutoi between April and September 1732.  A patent in her maiden name was issued on April 11, 1732, to Maryann Ditway, which was a corruption of Dutoi and Dutoy.  She could have easily married earlier as patents were frequently outdated by new information before they were finalized.  Her land was not French land.  By 28 September of 1732, Thomas Porter mentions John Loucado in the geographical position of her patent, in his own patent survey. Loucado died by 16 August 1737 when Maryann Lookade was said to adjoin Thomas Porter's deed to Bilbow.  The use of her name as a landowner in place of her husband's meant she was a widow.

The book "Register of Qualified Huguenot Ancestors of the National Huguenot Society, Fourth Edition, 1995, page 76 shows that Christopher DuBreuil, who was born c. 1680, in Lagny, France (now Lagnysur--Marne), married Marianne Dutoi.
It further states that they "fled to Virginia and settled on the James River".
Their son Jean Antoine (name changed to Anthony Dibrell) was born 15 May 1728.
She married James Goss by late 1739.

Notes for James GOSS:
James Goss and Shelton Bayley (foreman) are shown on the 1764 List of Tithes of Buckingham Co., VA.  He (and Shelton Railey (sic) are shown for 6 tithes in 1773 and 6 tithes in 1774.
Many early Colonial records show the spelling of Goss as "Gof's Goff, or Gose".
American patriot, served in the Revolutionary War, 1777-1784".
Served as Corporal, Captain John Nicholas' Co., 1st VA Regiment.
Completed enlistment on May 28, 1784
James was probably married twice.
It is speculated that he had the sons William and David Goss.

iii. ISAAC DUTOIT, b. Aft. 1714; d. Abt. 1751, Virginia.
Notes for ISAAC DUTOIT:
He wrote his will on November 26, 1750, probated March 1752 (Cumberland Will Book 1/51), and left 93 acres of land to his sister Maryann (Dutoit) Goss.  This land had been sold by his brother-in-law, Thomas Porter and his wife Elizabeth (Dutoit) Porter, on August 16, 1737 to John Peter Bilbo (Bilbow/Bilbaud), probably the son of James Bilbo.  This purchase of 93 acres by Bilbo was bequeathed by Bilbo in his will of 1750 to Isaac Dutoit.  Later Maryann (Dutoit) Goss and her husband James Goss sold this land back to the patentee, Thomas Porter, on November 27, 1756.  Isaac also mentioned in his will his underage nephew Dutoy Porter, nephew John Porter, and neice Elizabeth Branch, daughter of Thomas Porter.

Notes for John PETER BILBO:
John Peter Bilbo is found in the household of Pierre Dutoi in 1723 as a tithable (tax payer) at age 16.  In 1725 he gave his name as Bilbo for the 1st. time, although his name continued to be listed a Jean Pierre.  Bilbo was a leader in his Church and affluent for the time. He owned 162 acres of land in King William Parish in 1732.  The previous year he was appointed processioner for lands.   March 15, 1734 he took oath as Vestryman and October 30, 1742 he took oath as Vestryman and October 30, 1742 he took the oath of Church Warden.
