(rsw note: It is highly likely, but still unproven, that Elizabeth Adaline Bailey is the daughter of John Armstrong Bailey. The Baileys, Colemans, and Watsons were allied families.)

The following is a theory that connects this Elizabeth A. Bailey to the Elizabeth Bailey that was the wife of John Gilliam. (See notes on Evan Watson)
John Gilliam and his wife, Elizabeth, moved from Madison Co., KY to Logan Co., Kentucky in 1821. Elizabeth Gilliam was still living in Logan County in 1845. Elizabeth Gilliam?s maiden name was Elizabeth Bailey. Elizabeth A. Bailey is also the name of the lady who married William Watson in Todd Co., KY on 20 May 1841. I have long thought that this William and Elizabeth Watson might be the same William Watson and Elizabeth that are listed in the 1850 federal census for Logan County KY, with the following entry:

William WATSON 34 m KY
Elizabeth 29 f KY
Martha J. 08 f KY
Mary 06 f KY
John 02 m KY
William McDONALD 21m KY
Everything seems to fit. Logan County and Todd County are adjacent to one another. Based on Elizabeth?s age, she would have been born about the time that John Gilliam and his wife moved to Logan County. Mrs. Gilliam was still there in 1841 when William and Elizabeth were married, so there was a connection to Logan County. The oldest child being 8 years of age in 1850 fits well with the idea that her parents married in 1841.
I suspect that the Elizabeth A. Bailey who married William Watson may have been a niece of John Gilliam and his wife. A Charles Bailey signed the application for marriage license of John Gilliam and Elizabeth Bailey in Albemarle Co., Virginia in 1785, so it would not be unreasonable to think that Elizabeth Bailey Gilliam had a sibling or father named Charles Bailey. Guess what? There are three Baileys listed in the 1840 federal census for Todd County. Their names are Charles A., John A., and Thomas G. All three of these Baileys may be related to Elizabeth Bailey-Gilliam and one of them is probably the father of the Elizabeth A. Bailey that married William Watson in 1841.
