Sir William de Marham son Jeffrey, was lord in reign henry 111 and held it by one fee of the honour of Hagenet or Haughley in Suffolk his daughter and heir Margaret brought in marriage to Sir William Belet, alias Bygot in the 34 of that king (1250). He possessed it and in the 44th being the kings (1260) was valet.
About 3 of Edw 1 (1275 Sir William Lord, and Margaret his wife claimed the patronage of the two churches in this town (Marham) the great tithes of which were appropriated to Westacre abbey, by the grant of Geffrey de Marham; and there belonged to this manor a carucate of land, and 10 acres of meadow in demean, 14 villains with their messuages, and lands, and cottagers with 3 cottages, a windmill, free bull and boar.
Margaret as widow of Sir William was in 1 of Edward 11 (1307) found to die seized of it (Manor Marham),valued at 7.12s, 7d and Sir Ralph Belet alias Bygot, was her son and heir, aged 50, who gave 100 shillings releif: He died in 9th of that king (1316), with a messuage, a pigion house, 120 acres land, 3 meadows, 3 pastures, 60 shilling rent of assize belong to it, Walter was his son and heir, 23 years of age.
