In Johnstons MSS, relating to the county of York, it is stated that the widow of Sir John Girlington (fourth son and successor of Nicholas) sold Sandhall to Mr Walter Blakiston of York.

The purported marriage of Christiana Babthorpe to Richard Grenacres was noted in sources that are known to be unreliable (i.e. Stirnet and Hull University's genealogy database).  As such, more research needs to be done to either prove or disprove this marriage.  In particular, after her death, her burial in Tunstall parish was recorded as Domina Christiana Girlington, not as Christiana Greenacres.  This would indicate she did not marry a second time.
