"1941 had few entries, but all the rest of the years are full, if only 4 or so lines each day. The diarist is a homemaker, last name of Montaney. I can't quite make out if she lived in Oregon or Washington as I'm an east coaster, but will list the cities she mentioned such as: Tacoma, Olympia, Portland, Forest Grove, Eugene. She lived near a Black Lake, and enjoyed fishing, often listing her "catch of the day." She was married to Louis and was quite the baker, often making bread, dog bread, gumdrop cookies, cherry fudge, and more. They also raised and ate rabbits upon occasion. Some of her activities included: churning, sewing, reading, quilting, playing checkers, Red Cross work, crocheting afghan,  making root beer, gardening.

Here are a few quotes: Feb. 13, 1941 "Married to Louis P. Montaney Thursday at our home on Black Lake by...."

May 13, 1942 "Nice day, sun not too bright. Finished ironing, pressed some dresses & trousers. Did regular work. Caught  trout 14 in. long & bass 11 inches long and 3 perch...."

Dec. 10, 1944 (another's writing) "I got ?? to go get her & in returning we were run into & wrecked. We took Gertie (the diarist) to hospital badly hurt. fog."

The next few entries quite sad as writes of her demise. There is a front inside cover notation that she passed away, the date, and that another was taking over writing the diary, same last  name. Included also with the diary are 7 b/w negatives which appear against the light to be of people at the lake".
