Death of William H. Montanye.
The old coffee merchant had been in poor health for a year. WILLIAM H. MONTANYE, of 33 W. 88th street, head of the old coffee house at William H. Montanye & Co. of 65 Barclay street, died at his home Monday. Mr. Montanye had been in ill health for a year, but no serious results were expected until on Sunday, when he was attacked with an ailment of the heart. His decline was rapid from this time on until the end came on Monday. At his bedside at his death were his wife, who though feeble, bore up heroically to minister to his last hours; his son, Harold, and his daughter, Bertha, who has always been devoted to her father. Mr. Montanye was born 29 April 1822 in this city. He joined the 7th Regiment in 1834, and accompanied it whenever it was detailed out of the city during the war. He was at his death a member of the 7th Regiment Veterans, Lafayette Post, Grand Army of the Republic, a member of the Holland Society, an officer in several insurance companies and Second Vice President of the Irving Bank. He leaves a widow and eight grown children, of whom several are now conducting the business. The funeral will take place on Thursday.
MARRIED. On the 6th inst., by the Rev. J. P. Thompson, Mr. W. H. Montanye to Miss Amanda Van Sice, both of this city.
