VALMORE J. STEVENS
Brunswick -- Valmore J. Stevens, 71, of Oxford Road, died Wednesday at St. Peter's Hospital, Albany, after being stricken.
Born and educated in Troy, Mr. Stevens was a self-employed carpenter and plumber at one time. Subsequently, he was co-owner of the Palace Diner in Troy until 1958 and later owner of Thornie's Restaurant, also in Troy, until retiring in 1981.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Montanye Stevens; a son, Gary J. Stevens of Ballston Spa; two sisters, Emily S. Prediletto of Troy and Gloria Solomon of Providence, R.I.; a stepson, Robert G. Brashaw of Ogdensburg; a granddaughter; four step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Ann's Church, 190 Fourth Street, Troy. Burial will be in Park Cemetery, Scotia. Calling hours will be 3 to 5 this afternoon and 7 to 9 tonight at the Morris-Stebbins-Miner & Sanvidge Funeral Home, 312 Hoosick St., Troy.
