Mrs. J. Irene Montanye, 80, of Sloansville, died Sunday, April 4 [1993], at the Community Hospital of Schoharie County at Cobleskill after being stricken at home.
Mrs. Montanye was born in Schenectady November 26, 1912, the daughter of Albert and J. Irene (Schilling) Kearns. ; She lived there until moving to Sloansville 49 years ago. She was a 1930 graduate of the old Schenectady High School.
She worked at the General Electric Company during the 1930s and was later a clerk for the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance in Albany for eight years. Subsequently, she was a packer for 10 years at the Westheimer's Farm until the late 1970s.
Mrs. Montanye was a member of the New York State Fox Hunters' Association and the Hobby Club.
Her husband, Fred Montanye, whom she married in 1939, died in 1963.
Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Cain of Sloansville; a stedaughter, Mary Kuhit of Esperance; and two sisters, Anna Mae Klump of Nelliston and Dorothy Taylor of Galway; and 13 nieces and nephews.
The service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Langan Funeral Home, Central Bridge, with Rev. Olof C. Johnson, retired pastor of the Central Bridge United Methodist Church officiating.
There will be no calling hours. Burial will be in Sloansville Valley Cemetery.
