Mrs. Shirley Mae Hallock, 63, of RR4 Box 4116, Stanek Road, Meshoppen, Pa,. passed away unexpectedly at the Community Medical Center in Scranton. on Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 30, 2008. Shirley was born in Auburn Center, Pa., on Feb. 9, 1945, a daughter of the late Almon J. and Olive E. Dymond Harvey. Shirley grew up and lived around the Meshoppen area all of her life. She was the wife of the late Joseph F. Hallock, who passed away on Oct. 5, 1984. Her whole life revolved around her
large family, especially her grandchildren, who she loved to be surrounded by. Very full of life, and
always wanting to be with family and friends, she loved singing and dancing, enjoyed her flower gardens,
playing cards, and was very active on the bingo circuit, playing in Meshoppen, Nicholson, throughout the
Scranton area, New York State and even in Las Vegas. _She was preceded in death by two sisters, Joan
Harvey (1962), Connie Sherwood (2007); and three brothers, Earl Harvey (2000), Donald Harvey (1947)
and Harry Harvey (1984). _Surviving are her two sons, George (Tracy) Miller, of Athens, Pa.; and Joseph
(Nicole Carnevale) Hallock Jr., of Meshoppen.; and her four daughters, Georgia (Arthur) Ball, of
Tunkhannock; Robin (Mark) Abrams, of Mt. Pocono, Pa.; Sue Hallock (Duane Wilmarth), of Kingston,
and Jennie (Kevin) Ball, of Meshoppen; and a step-daughter, Jean (Joseph) Santamour, of Florida; 14
grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; five brothers, James (Phyllis) Harvey, of Brookville, Pa.; Albert
(Allison) Harvey, of Harveys Lake; Ralph Harvey of Meshoppen; William (Joanne) Harvey, of
Tunkhannock; and Selim (aka Sam) (Sandy) Harvey, of Exeter; eight sisters, Faye Oakes, of Meshoppen;
Anna Wandell, of Durhamville, N.Y; her twin sister, Charlotte Hunter, of Shickshinny; Betty Lou (Jack)
Vaow, of Meshoppen, Alberta (Lindy) Belcher, of Tunkhannock, Sharon Harvey, of Tunkhannock, Donna
Shoemaker, of Montrose, Pa.; and Judy Harvey, of Tunkhannock; and many nieces and nephews.
_Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11a.m. from the Sheldon Funeral Home, Main Street,
Meshoppen, with the Rev. Gary Myers of the Meshoppen Biblical Baptist Church officiating. Interment
will be in the Overfield Cemetery in Meshoppen. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on
Thursday, from 6 to 9 p.m. _In lieu of flowers those wishing may make memorial contributions to the
