FLOYD DAVIS, RETIRED PRESIDENT OF LITTLE VALLEY BANK, DIES AT 90
Little Valley -- Floyd J. Davis, ninety, of 104 Court St., president of the Cattaraugus County Bank until four years ago and currently chairman of the bank's board of directors, died at 5:45 a.m. today Nov. 30, 1976) following a short illness.
Born May 25, 1886 in Dublin, Town of Mansfield, he was a son of Charles and Unis Montaigna [sic] Davis. He had lived in Little Valley all his life except for a two year period in 1909 to 1911 when he lived in Fredonia.
Employed at the Cattaraugus County Bank since age sixteen, Mr. David had held several positions before retiring as bank president in 1972 at the age of eighty-six. He continued as chairman of the board of directors until his death.
Mr. Davis was a member of the Little Valley United Methodist Church, where he served on the board of trustees and was also Sunday School superintendent for many years until his death.
In 1925 he organized Boy Scout Troop 9 in Little Valley and served as scoutmaster of the troop for nine years.
His wife, the former Edna May Fording, whom he married Sept 15, 1909, died May 3, 1967.
He is survived by a son, James F. Davis, East Randolph; two daughters, Mrs. Ralph (Unis) Dodge, Springfield, MO, and Mrs. Warne (Harriet) Holcomb, Ann Arbor, Michigan; eleven grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the Van Rensselaer Funeral Home, 411 Rock City St., from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday from the funeral home. The Rev. Harvey O. Taylor, former pastor of the Little Valley United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Little Valley Rural Cemetery.
