SLOANSVILLE WOMAN DIES IN 81st YEAR
Sloansville, Jan. 28 (Special)-- Mrs. Amelia Blodgett Montanye, wife of Charles Montanye, died at her home in Sloansville, Saturday morning [24 Jan 1931] about 1 o'clock. ; Mrs. Montanye passed her 81st birthday last August. ; She was born and spent her early life in Middleburgh. On Feb. 2, 1881, she became the wife of Charles Montanye, who survives her. They took up their residence in Sloansville, residing there four years. Then they moved to Albany, where they resided 24 years, and returned to Sloansville, where they have lived since.
Mrs. Montanye was a member of the Sloansville Baptist Church. She gave vocal lessons for a number of years and in early life was a school teacher.
Funeral services were held at her late home on Monday at 2:30 p.m. Her pastor, Rev. J. L. Duesler, officiated, assisted by Rev. Johnson of the Methodist Church. Ariel Gordon, accompanied by Mrs. Duesler, sang three selections.
Burial was made in Sloansville Valley cemetery. Those from out of town attending the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Florence Loun, Mrs. Elizabeth Ostrander and Tracey Loun of Cobleskill; Mr. and Mrs. H. Percy Montanye, Mr. and Mrs. Warren A. Montanye and son Warren Jr., of Saratoga Springs; Fred R. Montanye and Rev. Clyde H. Johnson of Esperance; Mr. and Mrs. Sidney A. Hamilton, Mrs. Jane Gordon, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Carr, Edwin D. Carr, Mrs. Ida Madlin, and Miss Mae Montanye of Schenectady.
