Dear Mark, Here's a quote from documents in the Shakerley papers at the Shrewsbury Recod Office, relating to Thomas Lakyn or Lacon (your ID 120728_ Manor of Donington FILE - Settlement - ref. 1781/2/6 - date: 6 May 17 Henry VIII (1525) [from Scope and Content] Recital of indenture of 13 April 11 Henry VIII (1520) by which William Leighton granted to Thomas Hord, decd. Richard Brereton and the others above the Manor of Donyngton otherwise called Beames Hall and lands there and tenements &c and in Shakurlowe and Cushall (sic) with all advowsons &c to the use of Dorothee Lakyn, daughter of Thomas Lakyn, Esq., for her life, then to William Leighton and the heirs of his body by Dorothee, and in default to the use of the right heirs of William Leighton forever, of the chief lords. [from Scope and Content] By an indenture of 1 February 12 Henry VIII (1520/1) William Leighton granted to Thomas Hord &c all lands &c in Plashe and Muchall, Prestop and Brome to them, subject to conditions in an indenture between William Leighton and Thomas Lakyn. [from Scope and Content] Brereton &c now grant to William Leighton, Esq., and Dorothee his wife, daughter of Thomas Lakyn, Esq., the Manor of Donyngton alias Beames Halle, with all lands &c there and in Shakurlow and Culshall and certain premises, and also the Manor of Plashe and all lands &c in Plashe, Muchall, Prestop and Brome. To William and Dorothee and their corporeal heirs, of the chief lords; in default to the right heirs of William. Attornies: Ralph Wilcokes and John Mawhun There is further information available about Thomas Lacon's family in his Will, PROB11/25 at the Kew PRO. The Will is dated 15th January 1535, proving that he lived longer than your tree shows: it was proved at London on 28th July that year. The marginal note on the probate act records that he was in fact a Knight. He left a son and heir Richard and three more sons - Edward William and Lancelot. He made a brother Richard Laken one of his executors. He names four daughters, Alice Corbet, Ann ?Pinton, Mary Acton (about whom you already know) and Dorothy, and Dorothy's daughter Margery Leighton, who later married William Elton of the Hazle near Ledbury. Dorothy's husband William Leighton had died, and by the date of her father's Will she had remarried Richard Walwyn, Lord of the manor of Marcle Aubreys in Herefordshire. Hence the Will calls her Dorothy Walwyn. Alice Lacon, one of the four daughters, married William Corbet of Leigh. I have not yet traced the marriage of her sister Anne.
