Generation No. 4

11. John4 Trussell (William3, John2, John1) was born Bet. 1725 - 1733, and died 28 Feb 1754. He married Mary [Unknown]. She was born Bet. 1731 - 1735.

Notes for John Trussell:  This link is tentative.

Said by some to be John Trussell, b. 1733 in Fredrick Co. Virginia, who died 28 Feb 1754. His wife, Mary, remarried to Richard Rice.

It is not certain that the four Trussells that married Kays were siblings. It is certain that some were in Frederick Co., VA, where the South Carolina Trussells claim that an early family member was born.

The Kay family has long been associated with the Trussell family. In 1782, Robert Kay was listed in the Prince William County, Virginia tax rolls. Also listed were Thomas Trussell, Rhody Trussell, and William Trussell. In the 1787 Virginia tax rolls, Rhodam Trussell and William Trussell were still residing in Prince William County. Robert Kay, Sr. and his son James Kay were found in Frederick County (now Clarke County), Virginia. The property the Kays lived on was situated near the border of Loudoun County, Virginia. A Thomas Trussell family had settled just across the border from the Kays in Loudoun County. Trussells also lived on Broadmouth Creek in Abbeville County, SC, on land adjoining the Kays.

http://robertkayfamily.org/geneal.htm Went with the Virginia Blues under Washington in 1755 to the Indian Wars of Braddocks Defeat. He never returned and was never heard of again. "... died 18 Feb. 1754 leaving, by noncupative will, 25 Feb. 1754 - 13 May 1754, "the bed he then lay on" to his sister Hannah Trussell"

This man was thought by some to be the ancestor of Rhodam Amos Trussell or Rodham Amos Trussell. The first by this name, Amos Trussell, married Grace Kay.

Whether John was the son of William, and where the Rodham name came into the family, are not certain.

Notes for Mary [Unknown]:  Mary married 2nd William Rice

Children of John Trussell and Mary [Unknown] are:

15 i. Rodham5 Trussell, born Bef. 1754.

Notes for Rodham Trussell:  Rodham Trussell or Rhodam Trussell was still a minor in 1767. He joined and deserted from 6th Va Continental Rgt, 1776 and is listed on 1782-87 tax roll of Prince William county, Virginia.

+ 16 ii. Sallie Trussell.

+ 17 iii. Amos Trussell, born Abt. 1751.

18 iv. Thomas Trussell, born Abt. 1752; died Abt. 1824 in Of Loudoun Co., VA. He married Elizabeth Kay.

Notes for Elizabeth Kay:  Elizabeth Kay, daughter of Robert Kay, Sr., is assumed to have been born in Prince William County, Virginia. Her parents lived there until 1787 when they moved to Frederick County, Virginia (present day Clarke County). Her brother, James Kay, lived on the western slope of Mt. Weather in Frederick County. Her parents lived on top of Mt. Weather in Frederick County very near the Loudoun County line. Just across that line in Loudoun County was the Thomas Trussell household. Elizabeth married a Thomas Trussell, but it is not known what her husband's relationship was to the Thomas Trussell of Loudon County.
