As a successor of the Preacher Grentz on September 14th, 1675 Johannes Daniel d'Orville von Frankfurt was to step into his office as Preacher of the "highly Teutonic and French community in Schonau.
He descended from a Huguenot family, that itself in that time like numerous others in Frankfurt had taken up residence in Mannheim and spoke fluently the French language. Whether he himself attended to them also in Schonau, is questionable. But onesaw, that the community from its Walloonian origin, always still was attached importance, although since the immigration already was to have passed about 100 years and under the attacks of the Thirty Years War and through immigration of the Germanpart of the community, had maintained for a long time that preponderance.
Preacher d'Orville experienced that death of the Palatinate line - Simmern of the latest Evangelical Elector Karl (1680-1685) and the then the governments accession of the Elector Philipp Wilhelm from the Catholic Palatinate line-Neuburg. In his remaining years of his life the introduction of the Gregorian Calendar was pronounced in February of 1686. D'Orville was, like that from his widowed wife Anna Magdalena Marx was the inscription to him on his gravestone, that stood in the Evangelical Church, said, born on the 28th of September in 1645 in Frankfurt (on the Main) and was after eleven year effectiveness as a Preacher of the German-French community in Schonau passed away in that very place under public mourning and in that very place was buried. His successor was Heinrich Ernst Le Baschelet (1687-1700).
