Note: "Date from age at burial & marriage - only matching FamSearch/OPR entry is William s/o Walter RUNCHMAN, bap. Roxburgh, ROX, 17 Sep 1758.The other Roxburgh births to a Walter are 1762, then 1770s. Walter is not likely to be the Walter married to Mary LAING in Dumfries as they married in 1763.
If William belongs to Walter he has an older brother John b. 1757 and a younger brother Walter b. 1762.
However there is no proof, or circumstantial evidence yet found that indicates this is William's family.
Although merely indicative, the Scottish naming pattern would indicate that William's first son should be a Walter. Nary a Walter (after a possible father) or John (after a sibling) appear in his known children, only a William and a Charles. Lorna Jul 2012"
