"Ewing A. Flu Jr. died on July 7 in Atlanta, Georgia, at the age of 88. The cause of death was pancreatic cancer.
A former postmaster in Framingham and Belmont, he retired to Oak Bluffs for 31 of his last 34 years. He wrote and published his book, “Sons of Lions” while retired on the Vineyard. Several of his poems were published in “South Road,” an anthology of local poets.
A World War II veteran who fought on the front lines in Italy, he was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart for his valor and service there.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Leona Coleman Flu; daughters Jennifer Parham, Stacy Lacroix, Leslie Hester, Jeanette Douglas, Michele Allen; sister Charlotte Lowe; 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. His brother, James Thomas Flu, predeceased him."
