Ray Kapp, from the "Greatest Generation", passed away Thursday August 19, 2010 at the age of 90. Ray was born June 23, 1920 in Ogden, Utah, the youngest son of Jacob and Nellie Alberts Kapp.
He was an active member of the LDS church where he served as a home teacher for many years.
He graduated from Weber High School. A Veteran of WWII, he served in North Africa and Italy where he received the Purple Heart.
He married his sweetheart, Jeanette Taylor, on June 23, 1941 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She died on November 10, 1988. He retired from Safeway after 44 years of service.
Dad enjoyed reading many LDS novels. He always had a beautiful singing voice and loved good music.
Surviving are his four daughters; Shari Rae Beus, Susan Kay Reddish (Mike), Bonnie Jean Johnson (Dave), and Diane Vaughn (Rick). He also leaves behind 17grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. He was preceded in death by 2 grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank Dr. John Friden, Thatcher Brooke Rehab, Jason and his compassionate team from Health Watch, especially Sherry and her staff from Country Pines. All were angels sent to care for dad in his final days here on earth.
Family and Friends may call Monday August 23, 2010 from 6-8 p.m. at Leavitt's Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden, and one hour prior to services on Tuesday August 24, 2010 at the mortuary. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m.
Interment Washington Heights Cemetery.
