 Halfdan 'Gamle' Sveidasson, born 758, died 834, is mentioned in the Orkney saga:

"Heiti, Gorr’s son, was father of Sveiði the sea-king, the father of Halfdan the old, the father of Ivar the Uplanders’ earl, the father of Eystein the noisy, the father of earl Rognvald the mighty and the wise in council."

Halfdan el Viejo del linaje de Gór

La saga Orkneying no habla en absoluto de los descendientes de Nór, sino que presenta una figura llamada Halfdan el Viejo como el hijo de Sveidi (Sveið;i) el rey del mar, que se llama Svadi (Svaði) en el Ættartolur. Sveidi / Svadi en ambos textos era hijo de Heiti, hijo de Gór que era hermano de Nór.

Este segundo Halfdan el Viejo es padre de Jarl Ívar de las Tierras Altas, que se casó con una hija de un tal Eistein y, por lo tanto, se convirtió en padre de Eystein el Clatterer (Eysteinn Glumra), que fue padre de Jarl Rögnvald de Møre y del hermano de Rögnvald, Sigurd, y también de dos hijas: Svanhild, que era una de las esposas del rey Harald Fairhair y otra hija llamada Malahule. Según varias fuentes, Jarl Rögnvald tuvo tres hijos ilegítimos: Hallad (Hallaðr), Hrollaug (Hrollaugr) y Torf-Einarr. Thórir heredó las tierras de su padre. Los primeros cuatro Jarls de Orkney fueron sucesivamente el hermano de Rögnvald, Sigurd, el hijo de Sigurd, Guthorm (Guttormr), el hijo de Rögnvald, Hallad, y el hijo de Rögnvald, Turf-Einar. De Turf-Einar descendieron los Jarls posteriores. Hrollaug y su esposa e hijos se establecieron en Islandia.
