Bagley page 41 "The clerkship of the peace, or clerkship of quarter sessions, was probably the busiest of these smaller legal offices, because, from Tudor times, so many varied duties were piled on the shoulders of the justices of the peace and quorum. In the Elizabeth's reign the Rigbys of Burgh purchased both this office and the clerkship of the crown. Roger Rigby, clerk of the peace, was not a lawyer and therefor appointed his cousin, Alexander Rigby of Wigan, as his deputy to carry out the duties. Alexander eventually purchased the office himself and it was through his granddaughter, Alice Rigby of Little Hulton, who married Roger Kenyon in 1657 that the office passed into the Kenyon family, where it remained for several generations.
Ouders: Roger Kenyon, Jane Kenyon (geboren Assheton)
Echtgenote: Alice Kenyon (geboren Rigby)
Kinderen: Roger Kenyon, Beatrice Kenyon, Dorothea Wroe (geboren Kenyon), George Kenyon, Alice Kenyon, Thomas Kenyon, Jane Howarth (geboren Kenyon), Ann Kenyon, William Kenyon, Lucia Kenaon, Edward Kenyon
Broers/zusters: Ann Kenyon, Dorthy Kenyon, Jane Kenyon, Edward Kenyon Rector Prestwich, Alice Kenyon, Kenyon
Aanvullende informatie:
