Hello,
I am Edward J. Vanderpoel, Jr., the grandson of Jakob Vanderpoel. My father was Izaak Vanderpoel. His name was changed to Edward J. Vanderpoel after arrival in the U.S.
My wife's cousin, Gunilla Widstrom, has contacted you regarding our family history. Gunilla mailed to us the Vanderpoel pedigree from your file of 43 generations. Thank you very much for all of the information.
I am trying to find when Jakob (born 1862) and 3 children (they were: Johanna Huibertina born 1888, Neeltje born 1892 and Izaak born 1902) left Rozenburg, Zuid, Holland. Did they depart from Rotterdam? When and where did they arrive in the U.S.?Also what ship did they travel on? The 1905 U.S. Census Record shows that they arrived during 1905. I have been unable to find any information about them in records at Ellis Island. I have found information of 4 other children (they were: Huibertina Johanna born 1886, Jakoba born 1890, Jannetje Neeltje born 1896, Peternella Jakoba 1899) arriving at Ellis Island on October 15, 1906. They went on to Chicago, Illinois where their father and 3 siblings were living. These 4 children departed from Rotterdam on the ship Nieu Amsterdam.
Is there any way you can find out when and where Jakob and the 3 children departed from Holland in 1905?
In 1908, Jakob and 6 of the children left Chicago and moved to Yellowstone County, Montana. In 1910, he and the younger children moved to Fergus County, Montana. There he took up a 160 acre homestead.
Huibertina Johanna born in 1886 left Chicago in 1908 and returned to Holland to marry Willem Nicholas Riede. They lived at Rozenburg. They had one son, Gerrit Riede born in 1911.
How are you related to the Vanderpoel family?
Sincerely, Ed and Holly Vanderpoel
