Omer H. Schook Jr., 78, formerly of East Hartford and more recently living in Florida, passed away on Tuesday (June 26, 2007) after a period of declining health. Mr. Schook was born in Rockville, the son of the late Omer and Inez (Fahey) Schook. Omer had been a longtime resident of the East Hartford community. He had been employed as a supervising engineer for Hamilton Standard for over forty years, and was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army Reserves. Mr. Schook is survived by his brother-in-law, John L. Pratt of Trumbull; his sister-in-law Marie Schook of Enfield; and two nephews, Francis Schook Jr. of Enfield and Michael Schook, also of Connecticut. Mr. Schook is also survived by his extended family, Alan and Michelle Zaremskas of Colchester and their children, Mark Zaremskas and Julie-Anne Corda, both of Florida, and their families. He was predeceased by his longtime companion Julia (Niemczyk) Zaremskas. He will be remembered by his family and many friends as a good natured, generous spirit. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to gather at the Newkirk & Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave., East Hartford on Monday, July 9 from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral home service. The interment will follow with full military honors in the Hillside Cemetery, East Hartford. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his memory to the American Lung Association, 45 Ash St., East Hartford, CT 06108.
