burgemeester leeuwarden 1443
kapitein van de wacht 1446
raadsman 1442 ; 1455 ; 1456 ; 1462 ; 1464
Children: Rinsje (1415), Douwe (1420), Fonger (1420), Allert (1413). Doede was the mayor of Leeuwarden in 1443, and was the captain of the knights there in 1466. It’s possible that Doede or his father moved from the Siersma State in Deinum to Ferwoude sometime in the mid 1400’s. Doede Siercksma was alderman of Leeuwarden in 1442, 1455, 1456, 1462 and 1464. His son Allert Doedis was a “zoensman” there in 1429. He had a house in Minnema-espel and lived in the Grote Hoogstraat. He had a sister named Rixt Doedes Siercksma, married to Remren Jargis. One of their sons was Tjepke Allertszoon Siercksma; his son Doedo van Syrcxma was the grietman of East Dongeradeel living in Metslawier in 1578. This is the best known early Sierxma family. Doede Siercksma lived in the Siercksmahuis in Leeuwarden. He most likely built it. It stood on the corner of the Grote Hoogstraat and the Eewal, right beside the stadhuis (city hall) of Leeuwarden. It was a fortified house built around 1450. During the wars between the Schieringers and the Vetkopers many noblemen found it wise to fortify their houses. The third place owned by the Siercksma family (families) was a state about 10 miles northwest of Leeuwarden on the Nieuwland on the Hogedijk. It apparently was the out-of-town house of Doede Siercksma.
The Siersma State in Deinum, Menaldumadeel, was most likely built around 1400. It had as owners Feyka Ziersma in 1496 (when he with his neighbor Wythie Laesz van Boxum went to Harlingen to deal with the Groningers uprising), Tierd Syersma in 1458 (grietman over new land around Deinum) and Sija Sierdsma in 1420 (wrote a peace letter with Homme Oedsma from Boxum between Sicke Syaerda and Okke tom Broek). These were most likely Sierck’s relatives. Records of this time period are very sparse and one ends up guessing at many family connections.[1]
