KOETSVELD.-In ever loving memory of our dear son, Flying-Officer Norman Henry Koetsveld. who died of his injuries in air operations in Italy, March 4, 1944, beloved eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. N. G. Koetsveld, and much loved brother of Arthur (A.I.F.) and Edna, 20 Balmoral street, Essendon.

KOETTSVELD.-In loving memory of my dear brother, Flying-Officer Norman Henry Koetsveld, who died of Injuries in air opera- tions in Italy, March 4, 1944. -He forfeited his earthly wings for winter wings above. (Inserted by his loving sister, Edna.)

A Wellington aircraft of No 142 Sqn RAF took off at 1808 hours on 25th February 1944,
detailed to bomb the Daimler-Puch AG Aircraft Works at Steyr, Austria. Nothing was
heard from the aircraft after take off and it failed to return to base.
Crew :
RAAF 12517 FO Koetsveld, N H Captain (Pilot)
RAAF 418182 FO Rutter, V T (Navigator)
RAAF 427327 Flt Sgt G D V Howard, (Bomb Aimer)
RAF Sgt F C Churcher, (Wireless Air Gunner)
RAF Sgt R F Foster, (Air Gunner)
The aircraft crashed at approx 0100 hours on the 25th February 1944 approx 2.5miles
from Castelnuovo, but the cause of the crash was not known.
Three of the crew were killed in the crash, and FO Koetsveld and Sgt Foster were injured.
However FO Koetsveld died of his injuries on 4th March 1944.
The four who lost their lives are buried in the Bari War Cemetery, Italy. The cemetery is
located on the outskirts of Bari in the locality of Carbonara.
