Killed in New Amsterdam in 1652?
See archival records and discussion of the 1652 period at New Amsterdam. Evidence indicates that Phillipe and his father were killed by Indians on Manhattan Island during the first half of 1652, and that his two sons were also without a mother.
They were probably raised in the household of their aunt, Maria Du Trieux (then Mrs. Jan PEECK).
Dutch court records, of the period following Phillipe's death, contain testimony of Jan PEECK in which he complains of the burden of supporting a household of nine children, only seven of which can be accounted for as children of Maria by her two marriages.
Niet compleet waar: Maria had 9 kinderen van 3 echtgenoten.
