ZANESVILLE: Robert William Forker, Jr., 64,of Zanesville died at 1:28 P.M on Saturday, March 8, 2014, at the Genesis Hospice Morrision House after a courageous, hard fought battle with cancer. He was born May 31, 1949 in Zanesville to the late Robert W. Sr. and Jane Young Forker. He attended Zanesville High School and Ohio State and worked in the insurance business.
Through the years he enjoyed fishing, golf, caving and whitewater kayaking. He was also an avid 250 Superkart Racer and licensed private pilot. He was also awarded a citation by the State of PA. for saving a drowning rafter's life on the Youghiogheny River at Ohiopyle, PA.
He is a member of Amity Lodge #5 F&AM and past member of Noon Rotary, BPOE #114, Zanesville Country Club, Zanesville Assoc. of Life Underwriters, Big Brothers, Muskingum Co. Republican Club and the Design Review Board.
He is survived by his brother, Douglas Young Forker; best friend, Diana Geidenberger and her son,Will Laymon.
No calling hours or service will be observed. Per Robert's request, his body was bequeathed to Ohio University for research. BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE has been entrusted with arrangement.
