Gertrude Kramer, 80, of Aplington, Iowa, died April 18, 2000 at Maple Manor Village in Aplington. She was born February 13, 1920 in Ackley, Iowa, the daughter of Edward and Kathryn Eilderts Haats. She graduated from Aplington High School.
She married Clifford Kramer in the Calvary Baptist Church parsonage in Parkersburg. The couple were cottage parents at the Iowa State Training School in Eldora for nine years. They retired in 1971. They wintered in Texas and worked for resorts in Northern Minnesota some summers.
Mrs. Kramer was a member of Hope Reformed Church in Parkersburg.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1990; her parents; and three brothers, Albert, Teddy and Calvin Haats.
Survivors include: three sons, Dennis Kramer and his wife, Carolyn Jean, of Parkersburg, Rodney Kramer of Charles City and Milton Kramer and his wife, Michelle, of Lawton, Oklahoma; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three sisters, Catherine Elliott of Aplington, Edith ter Hark and her husband, Fred, of Aplington, and Elaine Konnen and her husband, Justin, of Waterloo; and two brothers, Edward Haats, Jr. and his wife, Sherill, of Aplington and Kenneth Haats and his wife, Pat, of Waterloo.
Funeral services were April 21 at Hope Reformed Church in Parkersburg with Rev. Neal Ooms officiating. Gerdena Mudderman served as the organist accompanying the duet of Willie and Randy Aalderks.
Casketbearers were Troy Kramer, Darrin Knucles, Mark Kramer, John Codner, Steve Kramer and Doyle Kramer.
