Pedestrian Dies of Traffic Hurts
An 85-year-old pedestrian died at Charity hospital at 6:15 p.m. Monday of injuries received Oct. 2 when he was struck by a car at St. Charles and Terpsichore. Dr. Nicholas J. Chetta, Orleans parish coroner, said the man, Samuel Henry Kottwitz, 1620 Terpsichore, died of a fractured skull. His death brings to 42 the number of motor vehicle traffic fatalities in Orleans parish since Jan. 1. Kottwitz was struck, police said when he attempted to walk diagonally cross the intersection. They placed no charges against the driver. Surviving are his widow, the former Miss Fannye Goldman, and a brother Robert Kottwitz Sr. Funeral services will be conducted at 3;30 p.m. Tuesday from the funeral home of Tharp-Sontheimer-Tharp, Inc., 4127 S. Claiborne, with interment in Metairie cemetery.
