Jerene "Jeri" Kuper, 81, Tea, died Sunday, August 20, 2017 at the Lennox Good Samaritan Center.
Jerene Delora Temple was born on February 10, 1936 in Beadle County, South Dakota, the daughter of John A. and Dora (Osterloo) Temple. She grew up in the Davis/Hurley area and attended school in Chancellor, graduating from Chancellor High School in 1954.
On August 22, 1954, she married Donald Kuper at the Turner County First Presbyterian Church. The couple lived for a time in Sioux Falls before moving to their lifelong home in Tea in 1968.
Jeri worked for the U.S. Postal Service for over 25 years as a postal clerk. Jeri was a faithful member of Lennox Ebenezer Presbyterian Church where she was always a willing servant for her ladies work group.
She enjoyed feeding cardinals and finches outside her kitchen window, fishing, camping and dancing with Don. She raised beautiful flower gardens and was well known for her baking talents, especially her "bars". Jeri made lifelong connections with her couples' card party club and was a devoted Minnesota Twins baseball fan. Most of all she loved the time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Jeri was preceded in death by four siblings: Lloyd Temple, Elva Weeldreyer, Roy Temple and John Temple.
Grateful for having shared her life are her husband of 63 years, Donald; her children: Lori (Larry) Bunjer, Lennox, Scott Kuper, Lennox and Mike (Trina) Kuper, Canton; grandchildren: Elizabeth (Mike) Thompson, Jacksonville, FL, Michelle (Ryan) Strege, Lennox, Logan Kuper, Canton and Ryan Kuper, Canton; great-grandchildren: Emersen and Harper Lee, Logan Veen-Strege and Isaak and Willow Booker; sister, JoAnn Ganschow, Wakonda; sisters-in-law: Verna Temple, Sioux Falls, Shirley Temple, Canton, and Esther Kuper, Lennox, as well as other relatives and a host of friends.
