Services Held Saturday For Frank Grimes
Funeral services for Frank C. Grimes, prominent resident of this community were held Saturday, November 5 at the First Congregational Church, with the pastor Rev. John D. Engels in charge. Interment was in Graceland Cemetery with EarlMurray, Elmer Abbas, Marvin Heyes. Fred Harms, Verlin Le Master and Chris Friis serving as pallbearers.
Frank C. Grimes, a resident Buffalo Center for more than 50 years, passed away at the Rest Home on Wednesday afternoon, November 2, 1960, at about five o'clock. He was born at State Center, Iowa, on October 29, 1871. On April 5, 1905, hewas united in marriage to Georgia Pink at Buffalo Center. Following their marriage they moved on a farm at Eldora, Iowa, where they remained until 1908. They then moved to the Buffalo Center community where Mr. Grimes continued in hislife-long occupation of farming. About fourteen years ago they retired and moved from their farm home northeast of Buffalo Center to their present home in the northwest part of town.
Mr. and Mrs. Grimes are the parents of four children, two sons and two daughters. Until about a year ago, Mr. Grimes continued to be fairly active, but became ill in August of 1959, and entered the B.C. hospital where he was a patientfor about a month. From there he was taken to the Jutting Rest Home in Buffalo Center for care, and where he remained until the time of his passing. It was during the past three weeks that his condition became noticeably weaker anddeath came quietly to him at the age of 89 years and four days.
He is survived by his wife, two daughters, (Martha) Mrs. Estel Budd of Springfield Ohio; and (Harriet) Mrs. Harold V. Norris of Jacksonville, Illinois. Two sons, David and Francis Grimes, both of Buffalo Center.
Also surviving him are eleven grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were one brother and one sister." <>
