John Bert Badge, son of Carl and Minnie Badge, was born May 1 1985 near Holland, Iowa. at the age of nine years he moved with his parents to Titonka where he was confirmed in the Lutheran Faith. He served with the U.S. Army in World War I.

He was united in marriage to Lena Johnson on Sept. 11, 1920, and they lived on a farm near Lakota for eight years, and later purchased a farm at Rake where they lived until 1956 when they retired and moved to Buffalo Center.

Mr. Badje passed away at the Buffalo Center Hospital on Dec. 13 following a short illness.

Surviving are his wife, Lena; seven children, Mrs. Evert (Jennie) Swalve of Kiester, Minn., Mrs. Hjalmer (Bertha) Irons of Elmore, John of Scarville, Mrs. William (Josie) Mayland of Titonka, Carl, Lawrence and Joseph of Buffalo Center. He also leaves to mourn 13 grandchildren, ten great-grand-children, and a host of friends and relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters, one son-in-law, and three grandchildren.

He was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church and a member of the Buffalo Center American Legion."

Badje, age 64, died Friday morning at 5:30, May 1, at the Veterans hospital in Des Moines. He had been in failing health for two years, and had been at the Veterans hospital since January, previous to that had been a patient atthe Sartori hospital in Cedar Falls.

He was born May 4, 1889, at Holland, Iowa, son of Carl and Minnie Meier Badje. He was married to Miss Rosa Walter of Dike March 14, 1914, and they made their home at Titonka for four years. He was a veteran of World War I, having enlistedin 1918 and served in England and France.

The family came to Dike in 1928 and Mr. Badje was employed by the town of Dike. He leaves besides his widow, two children, Mrs. Harold Dall of Cedar Falls and Peter Jr. at home. Two grandchildren, Charlye and Bruce Dall of Cedar Falls.Two sisters, Mrs. Millie Phelps of Pomona, Calif., and Mrs. Mary Snittjer of Wellsburg. One brother, John Badje, Buffalo Center, Iowa. His parents and three brothers preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held at the Dike Methodist church Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock with Rev. L. J. Runion officiating.
