Note: Elske Wolthuis was born 15 Jan 1873. Father- Harm Wolthuis, Mother? Are you shure about John Henry Hinders birth date? I have 12 Jan 1875. I'm getting the copy of the family bible sent to me. Also are their children's names Harm,Henry John Hinders. Henry married Marie Schneck, birth 10 Jun 1908 (Stock) Marie died Mar 1983, Milbank, SD. Daughter Betty (Gossi), and Son, Robert (my Father). Robert Hinders, age 84, of Big Stone City, SD, passed away on July 2, 2020, at Milbank Area Hospital – Avera Health.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, July 6, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. at Milbank City Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Monday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Mundwiler Funeral Home in Milbank. Reverend Dennis O'Neill will officiate the graveside service.

While maintaining social distancing guidelines, we are now able to gather for visitations and services. The use of face masks by attendees is recommended, and we will continue taking the necessary steps to keep our facility clean. For those who prefer or require continued precautions, webcasting and/or livestreaming is available in most situations.

Robert John Hinders was born on June 23, 1936, at home near Bryant, SD, to Henry and Marie (Schneck) Hinders. He was baptized in South Dakota and confirmed into the Missouri Synod faith at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ortonville, MN. He spent part of his childhood in Corona, SD, then moved to a farm near Big Stone City, SD. Robert started farming on his own when he was just 17-years-old and established Hinders Farm in 1958.

On June 6, 1959, Robert was united in marriage with Janice Johnson at Trinity Lutheran Church in Walter Township of Lac qui Parle County, MN. To this union, four children were born. Robert was a hard worker and farmed all his life near Big Stone City.

Robert was a member and elder of Trinity Lutheran Church in Ortonville, served on the Big Stone Township Board, and the Grant-Roberts Rural Water Board. He loved to play cards with friends and family and listening to Polka music. In his younger days, Robert enjoyed hunting and fishing in his spare time.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 61 years, Janice of Big Stone City, SD; daughters: Joanne (Lauryn) Schumacher of Fulda, MN; and Melissa (Chuck Shaner) Monroe of Rochester, MN; sons: Robert "Buddy" (Lisa) Hinders of Milbank, SD; and Steven (Emily) Hinders of Papillion, NE; grandchildren: Emily (Nicholas) Cooley, Peter Meyer, Alex Schumacher, Amanda Schumacher, Ryan Schumacher, Erica (David) Allex, Andrew (Kayla) Hinders, Anthony Hinders, and Sophia Hinders; great-grandchild, Madelyn Allex; and sister, Betty Giossi of Milbank, SD.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; and grandchildren.
