'Jeannette M. Olson, 92 Funeral services for Jeannette M. Olson, 92, were held Tuesday, February 4 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church in Thompson. Rev. Mark Decker officiated. Cyndy Johnson was organist. Special music wasprovided by Jeannette's granddaughters, Julie Olson and Hope Kurtz. The congregation also sang. Casketbearers were Luke Darnauer, James Maddocks, Gary Olson, Kerry Olson, Jeffrey Olson and Matthew Olson. Interment was in Olena MoundCemetery in Buffalo Center. Jeannette passed away on Friday, January 31, 2003 at St. Gertrude's Health Center in Shakopee, Minnesota. Winter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Jeannette Marion Olson, daughter of John and Gepka (Albers) Lamping was born March 20, 1910 in rural Buffalo Center. She was baptized at the home farm and confirmed at Good Hope Lutheran Church in Titonka. She began school in BuffaloCenter but received most of her education in rural schools near her home. She was united in marriage to Lewis Olson on May 2, 1928 at the Lutheran parsonage in Thompson. They lived in the Thompson area most of their lives with someyears spent in Des Moines and Minneapolis. She lived in Thompson at least 30 years where she was active in the Quilting Club and Circle at Bethany Lutheran Church. She was an avid gardener and took great pleasure in her flower beds.She was proud of the awards for them that she received at the county fair. Embroidery, crocheting and rug braiding were other interests.
Jeannette is survived by her children: Lorraine and her husband, Doug Kiester of Pine River, Minnesota; Betty and her husband, Earl Maddocks, of Glenwood; Ruby Olson of Richfield, Minnesota; Roger and his wife, Shirley, of Eagan,Minnesota; Jerry and his wife, Arlene, of Prior Lake, Minnesota; Marlin and his wife, Linda, of Pleasantville; 26 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents;her husband, Lewis in 1969; a son, Richard,; two grandsons: Bruce Maddocks and Peter Darnauer; four brothers: Ted Spieker, Fred Bill and Melvin Lamping and three sisters: Dena Wentworth, Jesse Berhow and Annie Olson.'
