... On December 21, 1944 she was united in marriage to Fred Andrew Albers at St. Patrick's Rectory in Buffalo Center. Fred was stationed in Seattle for the remainder of the war and Marlys worked at Bremerton Naval Base's Canteen. Thecouple moved to Swea City in 1949 and made their home there for 40 years. Marlys operated a coffee shop from 1950-951. In 1952, she went to work at the Hiway Cafe for several years. She worked at the Central Telephone Company in 1953,first as switchboard operator, then as chief operator until the first of 1957. After the birth of their first child, she became a fulltime homemaker. Following Fred's death in 1979, she became a bank teller at the Swea City State Bankand retired in 1989. ...
Survivors include her daughter, Stacie and her husband, Tom Inman, of Estherville and their children, Andy, Chris, and Laura; and son, Philip Albers and his wife, Jackie, of Swea City and their children, Brittany, Molly, and Kelsey. Sheis also survived by her aunt, Thelma Turnbaugh of Buffalo Center; her sister, Donna Winter, of Mason City; her brother, Robert Heiman and his wife, Lois, of Buffalo Center; and many nieces and nephews, and cousins. She was preceded indeath by her parents; her husband, Fred; her sister; MaryAnn McBride; and numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.'

"Services Held for Former Area Resident
Albers, 55, of Swea City, a former Buffalo Center area resident, were held Saturday morning, October 20 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church at Armstrong. Albers had died suddenly Thursday evening, October 20 at his home followinga heart attack. Interment was in St. Mary's Cemetery at Armstrong with Henry and Olson Funeral Home at Swea City in charge.
Albers had served in the U. S. Navy for a number of years and later had operated a Phillip's 66 service station and bulk tank wagon until the time of his death. He was the son of the late Andrew and Annie Albers, who farmed near BuffaloCenter for a number of years.
Surviving are his wife, the former Marlys Heiman, dau'ghter of Phil and Ethel Heiman; two children, Mrs. Tom (Stacey) Inman of Estherville and Phil Albers, a freshman student at ISU, Ames; three sisters, Jessie Matson and Teda Krull bothof Buffalo Center and Mrs. Ole (Annie) Burma of Thornton. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Anna Westendorf." <>
