LifeSketch: Son of William B. McDonald and Malissa Ann Hougland McDonaldt his home in this city, James McDonald passed away last Friday night at 11:05 o'clock. He was aged 78 years 11 months and 16 days, and had been a resident of Kansas for about twenty-four years. He had led an active life, and his last illness was only of a few days duration. He was a native of Indiana, born in Jefferson county January 22, 1830. December 12, 1861 he was married to M.J. Fouts of Clark county, Indiana, and to this union were born three sons and three daughters. Two sons and two daughters with their mother survive him. The family came to Kansas in 1885 and took a homestead in the northeast part of Kiowa county, later they moved to Pratt county about fourteen miles southwest of St. John and since about eight years ago have resided there. Mr. McDonald lived a commendable life and was highly esteemed by all.
